KDP niche research is what differentiates bestsellers from ordinary sand zero sellers. Most of the time, those who complain that KDP is over-saturated are those who fail to carry out niche research prior to creating and hosting their product on the Amazon platform.

Niche research is the only solution to the over-saturation. How do you niche down to get products in demand yet with very low competition?
One error that experienced and bestsellers stay clear of is trying to create their own niches out of nowhere. Avoid this grave mistake! Do not generate your own niche out of a vacuum, just because you have an interest or intuition that people will like that niche. No! The fact that you have a particular interest does not mean that the market out there would also love the same niche product. In most of these instances, these niches are not necessarily new markets. Don’t forget that our ultimate aim for niche research is to find a niche that is already profitable and highly in demand. Don’t create a book on a niche because it’s something YOU love, and you feel there might be demand for it. No! No! No! Look for what is being sought after in the MARKET yet with low competition. Find a niche that is ALREADY profitable. This cannot be understated.
How do you niche down to get the most sought-after product?
Look around, just conduct a simple googling to know existing products. You can install these Google Chrome extensions to help you achieve this. Install Keyword everywhere on Chrome. This will help you know most existing products on the market and what people are working on with regard to a particular niche. What are people selling? Go to platforms like Pinterest, creative fabrica, etsy, and Amazon itself. Analyze the various data and find out the skill for some of the results that are coming in. Can you do a better job with regard to the cover and interiors of those results? Before you go further, make sure to have the following tools and add-on extensions installed on Chrome.

Niche Research and Keywords
These two concepts must be understood in others to grasp the idea of niching down. KDP niche is a market whilst keywords are just the topics. Take a look at the following 3 examples;

From this table, we can see that the niche is the broader area and the keywords are the specific topics within the niche. A niche can be said to be the subject and keyword as the topic.
Things to always remember
- Amazon Search Results – Amazon search results are 2500 at max for each KDP niche (most are below 2000)
- Average Best Seller Ranks – These niches have an average bestseller rank of below 200k. The BSR indicates the level of demand for a product. The lower the BSR, the better, and vice versa.
- Keyword Niche Score – Each niche has a keyword niche score of approximately 50.0 or greater
- Google Search Volume (Optional) – Most of these niches do have a monthly search value in google as well
One may also use Google keyword planner to look for books in demand or use normal google for this initial research.
To make money with KDP, do not
- Choose niches that are too saturated
- Choose NICHES OR KEYWORDS that are too competitive
- Design unique and covers that speak to their niches

BSR (BESTSELLER RANKS)
Always target a low competitive niche, a competition of less than 10,000 is great, as that is less competitive. From there we target a bestseller rank of less < than #2000,000. The very low the BSR the better, meaning there is high demand for such a product. Continue in this process of niching down till you find products with the lowest BSR and the lowest competition.
